Galit Levi is the head of the nursing department at the Lev Hasharon Mental Health Center since August 2019. She is a cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist and a certified personal coach. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in healthcare systems management with a specialization in gerontology. Galit professionally leads the psychiatric nursing nationwide as the chair of the Association for Psychiatric Nursing in Israel for three consecutive terms. Over the years, she has held various roles, including department head, training coordinator responsible for professional development in nursing, and deputy head of the nursing system.
Galit established a comprehensive community system with the aim of reducing stigma towards individuals with mental health challenges and opening the mental health center to the community. In the context of her community involvement, Galit successfully recruited around 350 volunteers and built extensive community connections with elementary schools, high schools, colleges, universities, local councils, and regional committees.
She has also led the entire field of patient and family experience in mental health, contributing to the development of psychiatric service theory. Galit teaches in basic mental health courses and is involved in research in the field of psychiatric nursing.
